Low profile on Montreal streets

A bit of bling, no center cap?

So I look at these rims and think what a waste, nice looking rims but they’ll get chipped, dented and possibly even twisted on the Montreal roads. The mags on theĀ  Mazda 626 got a good whack a while back and had to change one of them to that classic black steel rim, often seen in the winter.

As of late I have noticed that quite a few cars are being equipped with low profile tires. Nothing wrong with that, I’ve seen Porsche , Ferrari, Maserati, Vette’s and the occasional Ford GT40 with a serious set of rubber. Then you have those that have H2’s, Chrysler 300’s, Chargers and Mustangs, they are being equipped with some serious after markets rims and rubber too. But how far do you go? Especially on the streets of Montreal, pavement is a luxury and potholes are part of our lifestyle. I look at these low profile sets and wonder why that person would even bother, they look good and may perform the part but they musy take a beating on the Montreal streets. Well, I no longer have the Mazda 626, it has been replaced with a B3000 extended cab. No it doesn’t have low profile tires but hey, it’s a truck, I really don’t need them.
