Not running, sprinting. Ever hear of Sprint car racing? Well, there is something out there called jet sprint and it’s one heck of a motor-sport. Imagine a small boat equipped with a really big engine and a roll cage whipping around on a small pond, that’s jet sprint. A friend of mine sent me a video of it and I haven’t been able to get my mind off of it, actually I have but it’s still cool to see. I have seen jet boats and tractors and motorcycles and cars and blah blah blah. But I have never seen anything where high speed meets tight track, it’s like watching a super dog show with the obstacles but better because there are small boats equipped with large engines that make a lot of noise! Then I found out how much these things cost and I’m like, that’s it? Give me 2 please! No, I’m not really planning on getting one but if I had my own racing pond, well then…

I really can’t make up my mind.
A few of my friends and I were talking one day and the topic was typical male stuff, women, sports, women, motorcycles, women, cars and that’s when eyes turned on me. My response was expected but not expected. Without getting into too much detail, the conversation was based on a hypothetical situation of us winning a few million dollars each and what sort of “dream vehicle” we would purchase with said amount of cash. The typical answers were the exotics like Ferrari, Aston Martin, Bentley, Ford GT40, Lambo and the like. Someone even threw in the Corvette just because. Now I agree, those are all fantastic dream cars but the ones I mentioned are how you would say, fun cars.
I believe that if you love to drive then you should get a car that is fun to drive. Those exotics mentioned are undoubtedly fun to drive but also costs quite a bit to have fun. No, the car(s) I had mentioned are somewhat exotic and fun to drive and the best part is, it can be bought by your average joe. Mind you the average joe would have to save his coin but it is achievable. So which cars did I choose? The Lotus Elise and Caterham Super 7.
When I look at these cars I think of the Hot Wheels that I had as a kid but even better because it’s a hot wheel that I can drive. Now these cars are still pricey but not as pricey as the other exotics. Sure, someone can argue that they can pick up a second hand Vette for cheap. It has gobs of horsepower and torque and an engine that sounds like 2 grizzlies fighting but I am not that kinda guy, anymore.
Lotus and Caterham for me is not about horsepower. Lotus and Caterham for me exudes a fun lifestyle. This is not to say that with the other sports cars you can’t have fun but whenever I see people in a Lotus Elise, it looks as though they are having more fun. I have seen a Caterham Super 7 once on my way home and that was all it took. I knew right away what it was and it looked as though the person was having fun. How many times can I write fun? Fun, fun, fun and more fun. But, I am faced with a problem. If I plan on purchasing then which one should it be.
It is not a problem in the true sense of the word. No, the problem can be solved with a flip of a coin, heads or tails but this not something that can be settled with a coin. No, the problem here is that I would like both but knowing that I can only choose one, just one. The other reality is that I can’t get one right now so there is a bit of time. Maybe during that time I’ll decide or maybe face another problem, another fun car may come along.
Well here we are, albeit a bit late. It’s 2010, apparently you have to say twenty ten and not two thousand ten or else the world will collapse into itself and chaos will rein supreme, so twenty ten, there you go. The 2009 year has come and gone.
I’ve been bad on the whole blog thing because maybe I have a life and cannot dedicate 100 percent of my time to blogging. Technically, I could get a blackberry or iPhone or iTouch or whatever other piece of technology so that I can blog 24/7! But I’d rather not. I figure I would try to update the blog at least twice a week, maybe even thrice, for those that don’t know, thrice means three. Why not blog every moment of everyday, simple, I have a life. So for 2010 (twenty ten), I will try to blurb a little more, as to whether anyone will read it, well, that’s another story.
What will 2010 bring us? I have no idea except that the snow will still be cold and the rain will still be wet and the bus 211 will still be late on the coldest day of the year. 2010 has dealt me a bad hand in regards to the bank, my work insurance and my cell phone. I’m going to see what else happens but am hoping for more positivity in 2010 than in 2009. Now for those deviants who managed to copy my bank card info. Yes you stole from me and caused me great frustration but know that what goes around comes around and if that doesn’t happen then I hope you get hit by a bus and not just any bus, the 211 and on the coldest day of the year. I know it’s wrong to wish such trauma on people but I could have said worse, I could have said the bus 80 instead.
